These two staircases were for a couple who both wanted different timbers for the staircase, so a compromise was that the main staircase leading from the first floor to the second would be made from Maple, and the little staircase leading from the kitchen would be Black American Walnut.
The main flight was designed to give a light feel to the landing, so an open tread stair made from maple was used with steel spindles coloured to a gunmetal blue finish.
The smaller staircase was leading from a very light, open kitchen, so a darker contrasting colour was decided, Black American Walnut was the timber chosen, with the same spindles as the main flight.
