This was quite a project. The property was an old water mill, with many considerable-sized beams in tricky places.
The design was that it would have a Georgian feel, with slight strings and painted tulipwood spindles.
The main design was made by Nick Jones Design, who, as well as coming up with the theme, constructed the structure from steel, which I then clad with tulipwood.
The difficult part with a staircase like this is always going to be the handrail, which is made from solid Oak, I love making handrails in the original style; there are no laminated handrails here; everything is cut from solid lumps.
I am particularly proud of this project; the finished product looks stunning.
