Bespoke Counter

I enjoyed this job, it was a very interesting build as the client knew what she wanted but had no plans or drawings to go from.

After a few meetings and discussions, a design was agreed for this bespoke counter and the work was started with a strict timescale as the pub could only be closed for a certain amount of time.

The boat hull is made from plywood with Osmo oil finish, the worktop is made from Iroko, again finished with Osmo oil. Once the job was finished, the boat was named Skerry Belle after a local crab boat.

Client Testimonial

February 26, 2018

Our food counter was designed and built by Kain Harper. Its design was discussed at the beginning of the project and details discussed throughout. The build itself is sturdy and well finished. Its design was bespoke from the start to fit in with our busy food counter which has quite complex functions where space saving is of utmost importance. To be made by someone who has never built a boat before from scratch says a lot about the quality of workmanship and design ability. No original drawings were presented but the end result could not be better. The price was not massively inflated in spite of this being an unusual project. I am very impressed with the quality and flair of this project and am now quite keen on having a new kitchen built at home!
